Park Secure: Islamabad Police & JS Bank launch new QR-code-based Car Parking System

QR codes – the tiny scrambled square symbols that instantly link smartphone users to specific sites on the internet – is now being used for secured car parking in Islamabad.
The technology called Park Secure will now be securing all the public parking areas, according to Islamabad police statement.
Park Secure offers QR-code-based smart parking system. It issued a digitally created QR coupon using a mobile phone and will be tagged with the vehicle information upon entry of any vehicle in Public Parking areas. At the time of exit, people will be required to get the same QR code verified by the police officer who will scan the issued QR code using his mobile phone and will allow the car to exit after matching the credentials.
The system was launched at Islamabad Sunday Bazar and will be replicated in other areas as well.
Police officials say that the swift and efficient system has multiple advantages but the major purpose is to reduce car theft from Public Parking areas.
Through this system, Police officials will get live statistics of cars entering, exiting and currently parked at any given area. This information will enable them to share these statistics with the relevant authorities for better planning and management at their end as well.
Speaking about this new initiative, IG Islamabad Sultan Azam Temuri said: “Safety of public and their property is of utmost importance for us and we are trying day and night to ensure the same.”
“This system (QR code) has been designed and launched keeping Public Convenience in mind and we are sure it will benefit the general public at large. We are committed to introduce digital policing in Islamabad, and like many others, there are still many of these technology based initiatives yet to be launched” IG explained.
