Building of Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) Tarnol has fallen prey to drug addicts

From the last few years, drug addiction in the capital has shockingly grown and many drug addicted people can be seen wherever they get free space.
Now, the drug addicts have found federal schools to be their safe haven due to the absence of boundary walls at unoccupied buildings is like an invitation for them to ‘take over’.
One of these public institutes is Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) which is located in Sector I-14/3 in Tarnol, the college building is under construction which has fallen prey to such intruders.
The reported college was to be built at a cost of Rs75 million over three years in 2004 by the help of federal Govt and former Member National Assembly (MNA) Asia Azeem had secured approval for it.
According to the media sources, government approved to construct 16 classrooms, an administration block, an auditorium and a library at the college in 2004 but unable to complete its building within given timeline.
The classes started in 2012 with incomplete building lower section of the building is located adjacent to a storm drain with narrow alleys and passageways.
Due to the absence of the college, it became an ideal location for drug users, once the college closes for the day many drug addicted people come into the college.
Apart from an absent boundary wall, the college is apparently functioning without a budget and lacks sufficient teachers. A resident Saleem said that the building is a hub for criminal activities and building requires immediate attention from the authorities, it should be cleaned, kept in good repair and have a proper boundary wall.
FDE Colleges Director at Ambar Sultana said that additional rooms will be constructed at the college while its infrastructure will be developed.
She further said scheduled to take place in the third phase of the PMERP since the first and second phases were dedicated to overhauling schools.
On the other hand, government officials say they are working on improving conditions of the college.
