Why Coke Studio’s national anthem failed to win the hearts of Pakistanis
Coke Studio is famous for its patriotic songs. In its season 10, Coke Studio has released a rendition of Pakistan’s national anthem featuring star musicians to mark Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day.
The featured artists include Strings duo, Rachel Viccaji, Quatulain Balouch, Umair Jaswal, Ai Zafar, Momina Mustehsan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ahmed Jahanzeb, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Salman Ahmad, Ali Noor and Sajjad Ali.
But even these stellar artists couldn’t save the song which has failed to win the hearts of Pakistanis.
National anthem holds special sentimental value for people and most people believe the song did not invoke strong emotions which is probably why Pakistanis reacted a bit harsh to the song by Coke Studio Pakistan.
Lack of enthusiasm and expressions, varying tones and non-traditional ambiance are indicated as some of the disappointing factors of the song.
This is how Pakistanis responded to the Coke Studio’s national anthem on social media:
Hats off to Coke studio for the tremendous amount of effort it must have taken to ruin our beautiful National anthem like this.
