New Islamabad Airport to open by end of April 2018: PM’s adviser

New Islamabad International Airport will be operational next month, said Adviser to Prime Minister on Aviation

The new Islamabad airport will be functional by the end of April, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Abbasi told airport officials during a visit on Monday.

Mr Abbasi said there would not be further delays in making the airport operational.

Mr Abbasi was briefed on operational preparedness and facilities for passengers. Officials from the Aviation Division, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Airport Security Force and Pakistan International Airlines were also present.

The aviation adviser was given a detailed briefing about the operational readiness and the latest technology installed at new airport completed at an estimated cost of 85 billion rupees.

Several officials of aviation division, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Airport Security Force (ASF), and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) were also present.

The Adviser said that new airport would be a great milestone in the history of Pakistan Aviation and it will provide best facilities of international standards to its valued customers.

The airport has two Runways and it will cater 9 million passengers per annum. New Islamabad Airport is equipped with state of the art facilities and equipment including modern Aerobridges, Radar, Landing and Airfield Lighting System.

The adviser also said that new airport would be a great milestone in the history of Pakistan aviation, and will provide best facilities of international standards to valued customers. During his visit, he also planted Cassia Nodosa tree, a subspecies of the apple blossom tree at new airport.
