COMSATS University wins first prize at Youth Drama Festival 2017 organized by Pakistan National Council of the Arts in Islamabad

Islamabad’s several theatre groups and drama clubs of educational institutions actively participated in the week-long festival held in Islamabad.

Youth Drama Festival 2017 organized by Pakistan National Council of the Arts concluded with Prize Distribution Ceremony on Wednesday at PNCA Auditorium Islamabad.

Around 12 plays were presented by the young artists of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The plays were judged by professionals.  The judges of the festival appreciated the efforts of PNCA for encouraging the youth to explore and express their hidden talent.

The first best play of the festival prize went to COMSATS University for the play Heeran Pakistan. Fankar Theatre Group was awarded the second prize for their play Aao Khudkushi Karain and Qauid-e-Azam Universtiy won the third prize for the play Sarrisht.

Besides the main award, shields were also awarded in different categories including best actor, actress, direction, light & sound, playwright, props, supporting character and interesting character.

Director General PNCA Syed Jamal Shah congratulated the winners and wished all the participants success in their future endeavors.

Speaking on the occasion, Jamal Shah said that “Theatre is a very strong and influential medium for change and putting the society on a right path.”

PNCA is striving to provide art education and training to the youth and to provide them opportunities and platform to express their potentials, he said.

Youth Drama Festival 2017 aims to stimulate the interest of the youth in different art forms and encourage young artists by offering them a platform to realize their passions.
