Chinese artists mesmerized Islamabad with Rhythm of Liaohai Gala performance

An enchanting, musical performance known as ‘Rhythm of Liaohai Gala’ by Chinese artists mesmerized the audience in Islamabad.

The musical event was held at Pakistanis National Council of Arts (PNCA) on 6th and 7th December 2017. The gala was organized by the China Cultural Centre in Pakistan and the Liaoning Song and Dance Ensemble.

The event was a joint performance of Chinese and Pakistani artists. The gala consisted of 13 performances and highlights included ethnic dances from China and Pakistan traditional Chinese folk songs.

The new Chinese Ambassador H.E Mr. Yao Jing and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Miss Marryam Aurangzeb graced the event as chief guests.

Expressing his thoughts on the occasion, the Chinese Ambassador shared that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic partners and have always been shared good friendly relations. He expressed the confidence that two countries will further strengthen bilateral cooperation under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework which will bring about further development and prosperity for the people of two countries.

The event kicked off with a folk dance from North China, called the Yangge. The women were clad in green and pink dresses while the men had red jackets on.

Another highlight was the traditional dance of the Dai people of China called ‘Wandering in the Forest’ in which women wore blue skirts, and danced with pink Chinese umbrellas. The audience loved the elegant performance.

The traditional dance of the Man ethnic group of China and ‘Drums Praise the Flourishing Age,’ was greatly appreciated too.

Pakistani dancers from the PNCA dance troupe presented three local dances. The Balti dance of ‘Mendoq Tangmo’ was a flower dance. The Khattak martial dance of the Pashtun men of KPK, was performed using handkerchiefs. The third dance, Bhangra, is the traditional dance of the Punjabi people.
