PNCA will screen Chinese films every Friday evening during February to celebrate Chinese New Year

Chinese Film Month has kicked off in Islamabad with screening of Movie “Breaking the Silence” here at Pakistan National Council of
the Arts (PNCA).

The Chinese film month has been organized by China Cultural Center (CCC) Pakistan in collaboration with PNCA to celebrate Chinese New Year 2018.

The event was opened by Cultural Counsellor at the Embassy of China You Yi, China Cultural Centre Director Li Shou and PNCA Director Jamal Shah. The hall was packed with local and foreign guests, including diplomats, for the screening of two Chinese films.

Addressing the ceremony You Yi said that China Cultural Center was honoured to organize the Chinese Film Month for the
first time in Pakistan; with hopes to bring a visual feast to more Pakistani fans through a series of screening events.

In the Chinese Film Month, documentaries, feature movies, animated and short movies will be screened.

The first documentary film was about Chinese architecture, and the second one, ‘Breaking the Silence’, directed by Zhou Sun, was a feature film about a single mother and her young son with a hearing impairment. It was China’s submission to the 73rd Academy Awards for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

PNCA will screen films every Friday evening during February and there will be various other cultural events in connection with the Chinese New Year on Feb 16.
